My First Mother's Day

My first mothers day was spent in New Brunswick. We had a wonderful and tasty BBQ at my Brothers- hosted by my fantastic sister in law. Here are a few shots of me and my date.

Being a Mama

Nothing in the world even came close to preparing me for being a mother.

The instant Mac was rested on my chest for the first time my heart grew a trillion sizes bigger. I have never felt such awe, love, protectiveness and joy in my life. For weeks after he came home I was completely overwhelmed by how much I loved this little man. I would sit and watch him with tears running down my face, unable to fully express to people how big my heart felt in those moments.

While I no longer cry just by the sight of him, he still evokes the biggest emotion from me. Nothing feels better then when he is tired and rubs his face all over mine to find the perfect cozy, safe nook to drift to sleep resting against. I adore his cheeky smiles and his flirty eyes. He is perfect in every sense of the word and I am so blessed that I get to be his Mama, and that this love will continue to grow.

Bedroom DayDreaming

To take a break from all things baby, I will share a touch of what I am dreaming about these days.

Brett and I have recently decided that it is time to relocate back to the Maritimes! <3 Once this decision was made we couldn't help but start dreaming of being house owner's - as it is now much more of a possibility for us! I don't know how many of you have been house hunting in Toronto lately.. but the houses are about 1/4 of the price in NB as they are here... EEEK!
Anywaaaays.. since all things decor are what I Love, Love, Love- the minute I start thinking of owning a home I IMMEDIATELY start imagining all the wonderful PERMANENT decorating I would get to do!! I want to start with the bedroom. We currently own a boring black bedroom set- all of the pieces are very large, and I feel they make the space feel dark and dreary. Since it doesn't make sense to replace a fairly new bedroom set- I intend to refinish all the pieces instead. I am aiming somewhere between-shabby chic & rustic charm :)
I want each bedroom piece to have a different paint color- each color bright and festive and I will balance out the brightness with a niece taupe wall and a few plain white(distressed) pieces. I visited the Behr website with Brett to figure out the exact shades we loved and this is the color palate we decided on. The colors are necessary on the object that would be painted in that color *L* but this gives an idea of how everything will come together:

The green(mermaid song) on the wall and the blue(fresh water) on the fireplace are the colors I will use to paint two of our dressers- the third will be painted a distressed white- as will the bed. The yellow(sweet chamomile) shown is the color of the curtains we already own- I will paint our night stand in that same shade. to give an idea of what the dressers will look like, here are a couple dressers painted in similar shades

Disclaimer- I have been gathering photos for projects for so long that I no longer recall where most came from - If you recognize something as yours please advise so I can give credit where credit is due!

Macs One Month Photoshoot

Celebrating Mac Month by Month!

I think it's important to celebrate such a blessing more often then just once a year, and I think it's great to show how much a month changes my little man.

So here are Mac's first 3 Months of Birthdays:

Mac's Nursery Part 2

These first two shots are meant to show the dressers - I found these at seperate times - but both were "craigslist" finds. After a little tlc and some new hardware they now look like they came as a set and have a nice vintage-y feel to them:

In these last two shots I was unsuccessfully trying to show my adorable plaid curtains- unfortunately due to so many bright sunny days I wasn't able to get a good shot..

Macalasdairs Nursery!

This is the shell of the room - freshly painted with Behr's "CoolDusk" paint
and furniture loaded in:

Here are a few shots of the room a little further in the decorating process- We have gone with a "Giraffe" theme. Thanks to a few great Etsy finds we were able to keep the Giraffe touches sweet and simple. In this first shot you will notice the blocks I ordered came in with and "x" instead of a "c" - the shop owner was great about fixing the mistake and getting a "c" shipped to us quickly - I just haven't taken new pictures since it arrived.

My favorite thing in this picture is, of course, the antique windows that I refinished for my wedding and then my fabulous MotherinLaw had changed into mirrors as a christmas gift to add to the nursery!

This shot has soooo many favorites!!
First would be the knit white afgan my mother made for me to have for my first child loooong before I ever considered even getting married - let alone pregnant. Second favorite is the crib blanket my mama made to match the nursery curtains. Third favorite is this awesome wooden pull toy giraffe- a great etsy find! I will post more on my etsy finds in a later post!

I orginally had these framed letters over the crib not sure what I am going to do with them now, but they have found temporary residence on this tiny wall.

More of Macs First days

L'il Macs first outting came 3 days after his birth. After visiting Dr. Asma Iftikar for his first checkup:

he then headed to Dundas St Grille in Etobicoke for some yummy breaky!
